Historic Pay Increase for Woodward Teachers

On June 10, 2019 the Board of Education of Woodward ISD 001 approved an historic pay increase for the 2019-2020 School Year.  

Mr. Kyle Reynolds share the following statement with the entire staff the morning after the Board approved the new salary schedule.

I want to share with you a very important moment from our June Board meeting last night. Item D under Action Topics related to the Certified Salary Schedule. The Board approved our plan to add $679 to the $1,220 teacher pay increase passed in this year's state budget for a total increase of $1,899! This means that the beginning step for the WPS pay scale (Bachelor's degree and 0 years) is now $40,000!

While analyzing our pay scale, we also saw that there were some "bumps" in the steps as you move down through the years of experience, so we took the additional step of "leveling out" the schedule. In short those adjustments meant an additional $120 by the time you get toward the high end of experience.

The Board and I hope that this move will help demonstrate WPS's commitment to recruit and retain the highest quality staff around. In addition to being $3,400 over the state minimum salary schedule, we offer a $2,000 signing bonus and $500/semester tuition reimbursement for teachers working on a Master's degree.
