34th Street Project Update

The City of Woodward has been informed by ODOT (Oklahoma Department of Transportation) that the 34th Street Reconstruction Project will commence on Monday, August 6, 2018. As you recall, the scope of this project affects the two-mile segment between Oklahoma Avenue and Hanks Trail, inclusive of the intersections at both ends, as well as the Downs Avenue intersection.

Since another school year is about to begin, the City wanted to update everyone on the project. The first performances, of course, will be mobilization of crews and equipment, followed by survey staking of boundaries, etc. So, although the heavy work will not begin immediately, it will soon get underway. The first area of construction work will begin in the bridge area North of Downs Street

The City will be in regular communication with the contractor as the project progresses, and will provide updated information at the earliest possible time. Our goal throughout this major capital improvement project is to greatly enhance the flow of traffic on this important artery while minimizing the difficulties of maneuvering through the construction zone.  The project will be particularly sensitive to school traffic at all locations. The contract calls for completion of the project one year from its commencement.  We hope that only one school year will be affected.
